You can ask your primary care doctor for a referral to a therapist or get recommendations from your family and friends. Before you schedule a session with a therapist, there are some questions you should ask yourself and/or consider:
- What do you hope to gain from your therapy sessions? Have your end result in mind and share that with the Therapist.
- Have you had any life changes? What has changed in your life?
- How are you feeling? Depressed, angry, high anxiety, stressed, at a dead end?
- What have you done to try to feel better? Consider a night out, meet with loved ones, openly discuss your feelings/fears, exercise as a stress reliever, etc.
